Yes, it would seem another celeb pairing has bitten the dust.

And this one makes us super sad as we thought these two were one of the strongest couples in showbiz.

The pair's spokesperson has confirmed: "Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage. There will be no further comment."

Michael is currently holidaying in Sardinia while Catherine is at home in their $4m mansion in New York State.

However, it is believed that neither is pushing for a legal separation or divorce, so perhaps there is hope for a reconciliation yet.

A source close to the couple have told Grazia that divorce would be 'the final straw'.

They said: "It would be too damaging for the children and a strain on both of them emotionally and health wise."

The pair were last seen as a couple on 22 April where they were photographed together at a posh Gala dinner.

The couple married in 2000 and have two children Dylan, 13, and Carys, ten.

Just last month, Catherine claimed she and her husband were still going strong and cited 'space' as the secret behind their marriage.

When asked what the secret to their long-lasting marriage was, Catherine said: "Respect, space and a sense of humour. We spend a hell of a lot of time together, so we are careful to maintain our space.

"We recently had an extension built, to house a closet. I go in there and never come out.

"My husband knocks on the door and says, 'Can I come in?' But I've got a TV in there, and my daughter brings her friends in - they play shop, put on all my stuff. I could be in there for the whole day, happily."
Perhaps that’s just all this is – a bit of space.
